Urdhva Prasarita Eka Padasana - Standing Split
I've been practicing yoga asanas for +12yrs and am finally diving deeper into yoga philosophy. The truth is I've steered clear of anything that felt even remotely religious. I was raised in a conservative church culture and as a teenager rebelled. Yoga actually was part of that rebellion. I used to skip Sunday services so I could go to vinyasa classes💕 When you go to enough yoga classes conversations will inevitably surface on chakras, eight limbs of yoga, complimented with chanting or oming. My go-to was to tune out and not participate because I had already excused myself from one religion. I most certainly had no interest in taking up another. As time has passed my attitude has softened. The more I've opened up to yoga philosophy I've been able to find appreciation that yoga principles are simply guidelines to just feel better. Ultimately it's the reason I've continued to practice all along.
